Easily create budgets in Board to track your progress toward goals. You can create budgets for users and teams

The first time you create a budget, you'll go through three steps:

  1. Budget KPIs
  2. Create Budget
  3. Create Budget Formula

If you have existing budgets, you are able to make changes with these features:

You must have the role of Manager or Administrator to use budgets.

If you are a Manager, you can see the budgets you have created. As an Administrator, you have access to view all budgets.

You can find Budgets under Settings.

In the overview, you can filter your budgets under 'Filter' by 'Ongoing and Future' and 'All.'

Budget KPIs

  1. Click on Budget KPIs to create the field your budget will measure against
  2. Name it with an appropriate title, if you want to make changes to your title simply click on edit

A budget KPI must be created before you can proceed to create a budget.

Create Budget

  1. Click on Create Budget
  2. Select the user or team that the budget should be based on
  3. If you want specific time periods for when the budget should be valid, you can fill them in here
  4. Enter the start and stop date for the budget
  5. You have the option to choose whether the budget should be applicable for all days in the period. If you choose no, you can exclude days in the overview.
  6. Then input the budget amount

Next, a formula must be created; you can find Formulas under Settings

Only Administrators can create formulas.

Duplicate budget

In Budgets you can duplicate existing budgets.

For instance, if you have created a monthly budget, you can simply duplicate it and update the date and/or the budget values within the KPI section. Similarly, you can easily duplicate a budget from one user or team to another.

  1. Navigate to Settings
  2. Click on Budgets
  3. Find the budget you want to duplicate
  4. Make changes to user/team, dates and/or KPIs
  5. Click on Save

Edit budget

  1. Go to Settings
  2. Click on Budgets
  3. Find the budget you want to edit from the overview
  4. Click on Edit and make your changes
  5. Click on Save

Create Budget Formula

  1. Go to Settings
  2. Formula
  3. Click Create Formula and name the formula
  4. Click Add Component and select the component Budget
  5. Set up your formula by selecting type, KPI, goal, and any start and end dates in the drop-down menus.

The KPI dropdown menu are based on the KPIs created under Budget KPIs.

Once you have created your formula, you are ready to visualize data based on your budget.

If you want your budget to be based on for instance, weekdays, you can add the date component and choose weekdays under category in your formula.

When you make use of the date component you are able to showcase a budget for instance in a table where the budget will be calculated throughout the day and therefore the data showcased will change for everytime you look at it to showcase a here and now view.

Remember to select the data source Formulas in your widget on the board to display data from your formula.

If you have a budget that are identical for all employees then you can make use of a formula with a static number divided by a date instead of creating a budget through the Budget Menu.
